“Picking five favorite books is like picking the five body parts you’d most like not to lose.” Neil Gaiman

It's Fall! And, we didn't float away last week in all that rain! We hope everyone did OK in the wind and rain, and that all is well. October is one of our favorite months--we look forward to lovely cool mornings and breath- taking sunsets. And, wait till Halloween! Downtown Zebulon will host our annual Treat or Treat on the Square when we welcome all manner of ghosts, goblins, and superheroes. It happens on Thursday, October 31st from 6-8 p.m. And, spook alert--our favorite "visitor" will be here at the store for Halloween Week--the hooded guy arrayed in black with a scythe and that deep, deep laugh when you walk by...

We are also partnering with other downtown merchants to bring you The Halloween Duck Hunt--it happens Monday, Oct 28th thorough Friday November. Visit businesses who will have little duckies hidden in their stores and offices--hunt around and if you spy one, or more--let them know and get a special reward! (We'll give 10% off of any book purchase to the eagled-eyed reader!).

This month we are featuring a wonderful photo exhibit by Jane Whitehurst--stay tuned for more information and a sampling of her work.

A special shout-out to our bookseller Emily who has made an incredible Voting Booth experience in the store where you get to select your choice on a different topic every week: Fiction vs Non Fiction, Hardcover vs Paperback, Mysteries vs Thrillers....It's great practice for the real thing coming in November! And, let the kids try it to get them in the groove when they hit 18!

We were treated to a fantastic parade of visitors last month who were in Pike County for the SlowExposures Photography Festival--and, the Chamber's fabulous "Princess" event. It's always great catching up with you (and, our favorite Princess)! Stop in, catch up, join one of our book groups, and, as always, let us know what you're reading!
