"From a Mile High to 130 Feet Deep" Photography by John Brown John has always had an interest in photography starting at a young age--he invested in his first 35mm camera around 1987. He enrolled in a darkroom course and shot a roll of film a week to learn the how-to's. While shooting he connected with a newspaper reporter who asked him to take photos of a local game. This led to a by-line, an on-going assignment, free film and development, and sideline passes to Auburn and Alabama ballgames. Since then, John notes "I have taken pictures of anything you can think of from a mile high out of a hot air balloon to 130 feet deep in the ocean." Join us in welcoming John on Saturday, April 1st from 6-8 pm--and enjoy his perspective from the heights to the depths! Check out our new Science Fiction Book Club on the second Friday of every month! Are you a fan of Science Fiction or are you curious about the genre? If so then come check out our new Science Fiction Book Club. We will be meeting at the bookstore on the second Friday of every month from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Bear in mind that this club is intended for an older audience as we may discuss topics that are not suitable for younger readers. The first book we will be reading is what many consider to be the origin point of the genre, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Some themes from the novel we'll be discussing include childbirth, ambition, the pursuit of knowledge, and sublime nature. The first meeting will be on April 14th at 6 P.M. We hope to see you then! THANKS to everyone who made our 2023 Dog and Pony Show such a warm, fun success! Special thanks to our Juror-for-Life Ray Sullivan who chose a fantastic show, and Coco's Cupboard who did their yearly parade of pooches who are looking for homes. We hope this one, and others were adopted! YOU'RE INVITED...! POETRY ALL MONTH LONG!
